We've known for a while that the functionality has been added to recently released titles, and will be added via software updates to previous titles. Of course, the most important thing is how the rumble is with the DualShock 3 and what games it works for. While you can't get a PS3 in a different color, you can get a white DualShock 3. We contacted SCEA for word on whether this would be the same for North America or Europe, but as of press time we received no reply. Perhaps SCEJ expects that if you're going to purchase one, you'd already have this to charge your older Sixaxis. Importers should be aware, however, that the controller comes without a USB cable to charge the controller for some reason. The controller is heavier and a bit larger than the original Sixaxis itself, but retains all of the same functionality that you'd expect from the PS3 controller. Unfortunately, unless gamers imported the new controllers, those outside of Japan would have to wait till 2008 to test out just how well the redesign worked.įortunately for us, we managed to get some DualShock 3 controllers fresh from Japan in the office today. The controller, would feature the functionality of the Sixaxis controller along with the vibration that PS2 owners had become accustomed to. Sony fans were excited when it was announced at this year's TGS that rumble would finally return to the PlayStation 3 in the form of the new DualShock 3.
